Herman Van ROMPUY, President of the European Council, visited Granada (Spain) on Saturday 6 March and Sunday 7 March 2010, where he chaired the EU-Morocco Summit meeting.
This is the first summit between the European Union and Morocco, and it highlights the fact that Morocco is a favoured partner of the EU. The summit gives President Van Rompuy  and President Barroso of the European Commission the opportunity, for the first time since the Lisbon Treaty entered into force, to represent the European Union at a summit with a third country.
